Each time we leave off a letter we substitute the word HO in its place. The children make a Santa and I give them the letters S A N T A to put under his picture. I also give them five HO's so that they can cover up the letters as we sing the song. The children learn how to spell SANTA very quickly and have alt of fun with the song learning how to sing HO HO HO HO HO in a big Santa voice!

Someone's peeping through my window,

(make knocking motions)

(turn head and widen eyes)

(pretend you are tip-toeing)
Into the room while all the children slept.
(put finger to mouth like saying shhhhhh)
He saw their stockings hung in a line
and filled them with candy and goodies fine.
(imitate filling stockings)
Although he counted them, one two three
(point as if counting 1, 2 3)
The baby's stocking he could not see!
(hand across eyebrow's as if looking)
"Oh No" said Santa, That won't do!
(hold tummy and laugh)
So he popped a present right into her shoe!
(cup one hand and put other inside)

A Shy Santa
Isn't it the strangest thing,

When children are in bed!" (shake finger)

Gingerbread Man
Stir a bowl of gingerbread (stir as in bowl)
Smooth and spicy brown
Roll it with a rolling pin up and up and down (Pretend to roll)
With a cookie cutter, ( pretend to cut out)
make some little men.
Put them in the oven ( place in oven)
till half past ten!

Christmas Cheer

Let's all do a little clapping,

& spread Christmas cheer.
You can change the clapping to other activities:

(Extension: Have the children make five elf finger puppets to use with the song. Have a hat for mama, Santa and five elf hats. Let the children act out this song.)

I'm a Little Snowman
Make a large snowman from white poster board. Make a hat and scarf from each color: Red, yellow, green, orange, blue, purple, pink, brown, and black. Add Velcro to the snowman and to the hats and scarves. Each day, at circle, let a child put on the appropriate colored scarf to match the hat. On our snowman, we put each button a different color and shape. We talk about this too, as we do our activity. *(We sing this to put our scarf and hat on our snowman at circle time)

Jesus has no fancy clothes. (wave finger no again)
He's wrapped in cloth this way (motion of wrapping up a baby).
